Delhi - Mumbai Expressway

Only for representation.

Ever since the BJP led government was formed in India in 2014, a major focus has been on the creation of roads and infrastructure.

There is absolutely no doubt in the fact that a great road and transportation infrastructure plays a significant role in the economic growth of a country.

Look at our neighbor China for example. They have created a solid infrastructure of road and rail transportation to support their growing economy.

After laying foundations for many such projects, the Transport Ministry seems to have now set its sight on the Delhi Mumbai Route.
Both Delhi and Mumbai are significant and very important cities of India.

Where Delhi is the national capital and the center of power, Mumbai is considered to be the financial capital of India where major Business Tycoons reside.

And of course, how can we forget our favorite film stars who also have made Mumbai their home.

Being a seaside city with a bustling crowd and an amazing nightlife, Mumbai is always on the priority list for people looking for a vacation. With amazing hill stations like Lonavala and Khandala close by and the famous beaches of Goa a few hours away, Mumbai is the best place to be.

But for those of us who live near Delhi, it is always a chore to plan a visit to Mumbai as we only have 2 viable options for transportation.

TRAIN

Though Mumbai is very well connected to Delhi via rail, the time taken is quite a lot.

There are 3 Rajdhani trains, that travel between Delhi and Mumbai, which take the least amount of time and yet it takes 16 hours to reach from one end to the other.

Other trains, of course, take much longer!

Though a good option, still quite time-consuming.

The next option and the current best option is by plane.

As with the trains, Delhi and Mumbai are very well connected by Air. There are multiple flights to and from throughout the day.

However, Not everyone can afford to pay for the tickets.

Whats more, for the impromptu plans, you may have to shell out a premium since flight tickets follow dynamic pricing and get expensive as the travel date comes near.
So, unless you have a pre-planned trip and you have booked your tickets well in advance, you might have to pay quite an amount to travel at short notice.

Now, You Can Just Drive!

With the new project undertaken by the Government of India, Delhi and Mumbai will be connected by a Multi-lane Expressway.

What this means is that you can now drive uninterrupted from Delhi to Mumbai in 12 hours or even less.

If you have ever traveled on the Delhi Agra expressway or the Mumbai Pune expressway, you probably know how amazing it is. The roads are well built and awesome and one can easily drive at high speeds continuously without encountering traffic jams or traffic bottlenecks.

Since you can theoretically reach Mumbai in 12 hours, now anyone can plan an impromptu trip and drive to Mumbai. One can leave early in the morning and reach by early evening, perfect for long and extended weekends.

The Indian Government has announced that project will start soon within a month and will be completed in the next 3 years or less.
The expressway will go through Rajasthan and Gujrat en route Mumbai. So you can expect great landscape and an amazing drive on the way.

Not just personal vehicles, the new expressway will enable faster Bus services between Delhi and Mumbai allowing the regular population to travel between Mumbai and Delhi quickly.
