Thanks to the Digital India initiative launched by our honourable prime minister Shri Narendra Modi, almost all of the government services can now be accessed online. And the creation/modification of the voter id card is no exception.

Applying for a voter id card online is a very straightforward process. All you need to do is follow the below steps:
  • Once the website is opened, you will see that you are greeted with an online form that you need to fill up.

  • The form supports 3 languages currently (Hindi, English & Malayalam) and you can change the language of the form by clicking on the language drop-down button. 
  • As required, enter the details of your constituency for which you want to apply for the voter id card. Later on, you need to enter your personal details in corresponding columns.
  • You will find an option which asks if you are a new voter or want to apply for a new card due to change in address. Choose the appropriate option and enter all the details as asked.

  • Further down in the form, you will need to upload a passport style photograph of yours which will be added to your voter id card.
  • You will also need to upload a scanned copy of documents for Age Proof and Address Proof. You can use e-aadhaar as age proof and passport as address proof. If you don't' have these documents, there are other options as well like 10th mark sheet, gas bill, driving license etc.
  • When all the data has been entered, you can click submit to start processing of your form. The concerned department will process your application and, if all goes well, will deliver your new voter id card at your doorstep within a month.
  • If for some reason, there is some discrepancy regarding some data, the voter department will contact you using the email id and phone number you mentioned in the form.
  • When you submit the form, you will also be provided with an application number using which you can track the status of your application online using the same website. You will also receive a status tracking link on your email address.
